Sex With Devon #13 - Behavioral Shareware Pt. 1
September 10th, 2007This episode is about one of the most important concepts that we can work to spread and share in our new world - behavioral shareware. The essence of behavioral shareware is the concept that behaviors are like computer programs – things you can swap out, update and trade. If we are lucky and disciplined this will become part of the psychology of the new millennium.
Behavioral shareware is a common language for communicating states of consciousness. It helps us in learning the game of behavioral excellence without having to climb the Himalayas to find a guru.
This post helps to establish one of the foundational premises of all of the work that I do – that, unlike the suggestion of most of psychology today, change – though not necessarily easy – is logical and, when understood, simple. The idea of behavioral programs and behavioral shareware is part of that understanding.
Start using the model of behaviors being like programs and your life will become much simpler and more easily updated in every domain. That, and you'll know what the hell I'm talking about in future episodes when I refer to downloading and installing behaviors.
